Collaboration work for first New Zealand Monoblock safety initiative
In February 2020, as a part of a SH1 Motorway maintenance program the first ACO Monoblock trench channel drain was successfully installed. In collaboration with Auckland System Management (ASM) and the local contractor Troy Wheeler Contracting (TWC), ACO supplied a heavy duty drainage solution that fulfilled the requirements of the highly trafficked highway. With its high capacity, ACO’s Monoblock RD200V 20.0 minimised the risk of standing water on the road without getting blocked and due to the monolithic characteristic, there was no risk of loose components being a hazard for drivers and maintenance workers that need to enter the frequently trafficked area to maintain the channel. Overall the product was chosen for its durability and ease of maintenance access.
Referring to Mr. Mitchell from ASM, he said: “The Monoblock system looks to be the way of the future for helping to manage surface flooding risks, improve customer and operator safety and increase the efficiency and resilience of our Auckland motorway system.”
